Our Story

Marielis Rivera, a domestic violence survivor, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico forty-two years ago. She is a pastor, minister, chaplain, entrepreneur, and a mother of five.

Raised in a dysfunctional home where she suffered physical, mental, emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse Marielis did not have the opportunity to enjoy a happy childhood. She attempted suicide many times due to low self-esteem.

Not knowing how to bear the great emptiness and inner loneliness she felt inside led her to alcohol and drugs. Sometimes she even mutilated her skin. At the age of 15, she began to receive psychological help to the point of having to take medications for depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Her life was a disaster which she accepted as normal. It was all she knew. She had gotten used to hearing she was trash, worth nothing, and would never amount to anything in life.

She continued to allow this type of abuse throughout her youth and into adulthood. Never being able to free herself from the bondage of abuse until one day she had an encounter with God. Marielis states, “through his fatherly love, he taught me that I was his creation, worthy of love and kindness. I took on the courage of a freed woman. I began to see myself through his love, which changed the way I saw myself. God accomplished in me what no psychologist or rehabilitation program center could do. I was freed from all the addictions that had enslaved me. Today, I can say that thanks to God, I am completely free”.

Her life is blessed and she walks in victory. She has found her purpose and uses her testimony as a channel of blessing to reach others. Over time her questions were answered and her life gained meaning. Marielis states “With God’s grace, I converted all the pain and suffering I experienced into helping others grow and find the light at the end of the tunnel”’

The name of “Women with Power Empowering the World” was placed in the heart of Marielis by God, for her to be an accomplice to his desires of being able to give in which she has done to this day through his celestial inheritance.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19.
